   Thank you for attending this meeting. We would like to discuss your son's transition from preparatory school and the support available in Year 1.

   Thank you. He has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and also has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I am worried that he may not adjust to the new classroom.

   We will work with his classroom teacher to develop adjustments that support participation, attention and communication. The plan will be reviewed with you regularly.

   He is behind in basic reading and mathematics. I would like to know how the school assesses literacy and numeracy.

5. Learning Support Coordinator · turn 5

   Teachers use classroom assessments throughout the year. NAPLAN is one source of information about literacy and numeracy, but it is not the only measure of a child's progress.

   If he feels anxious during the NAPLAN test, can the school make adjustments?

   We can discuss reasonable adjustments based on his needs and the assessment arrangements. We will explain the process well before the test period.

   I want him to participate in the regular curriculum and receive extra support, rather than being excluded from class activities.

   That is our aim. We will use inclusive teaching strategies and coordinate with you, his teacher and any relevant health professionals.
