1. Court Officer · turn 1

   Please stand. Before giving evidence, you must take either an oath or an affirmation. Which do you prefer?

2. Witness · turn 2

   我想作出確認，不宣誓。我沒有宗教信仰。

   I would like to make an affirmation rather than take an oath. I do not have a religious belief.

3. Court Officer · turn 3

   Please repeat after me: I do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

   請跟我重複：我莊嚴、真誠並真實地聲明及確認，我所作的證供將是真實的、完整的真實，且只有真實。

4. Judge · turn 4

   法庭也可按證人的信仰安排宣誓。例如基督徒可憑全能的上帝宣誓，穆斯林可憑真主宣誓。

   The court can also arrange an oath according to a witness's faith. For example, a Christian may swear by Almighty God and a Muslim may swear by Allah.

5. Court Officer · turn 5

   The Christian form is: I swear by Almighty God that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

   基督教宣誓詞是：我憑全能的上帝宣誓，我所作的證供將是真實的、完整的真實，且只有真實。

   If the witness is Muslim, does the oath replace 'Almighty God' with 'Allah'?

7. Court Officer · turn 7

   Yes. The form is: I swear by Allah that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

8. Prosecutor · turn 8

   The prosecution will call this witness because, after receiving a subpoena, he must attend court and produce the relevant CCTV footage.

9. Judge · turn 9

   The court has jurisdiction to hear this matter. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant deliberately damaged property; the prosecution concerns a separate criminal charge.

    I understand that a civil plaintiff and criminal prosecution have different roles. I will testify only about what I saw.

    The interpreter must also take an oath or affirmation. Please read the interpreter's affirmation.

    I solemnly and sincerely declare and affirm that I will well and truly interpret the evidence that will be given and do all other matters and things required of me in this case to the best of my ability.

13. Defence Solicitor · turn 13

    My client relies on an alibi and says he was at work at the relevant time. The defence will call employment records and a supervisor.

14. Judge · turn 14
