   No, I haven’t stopped you because of the way you were driving. Police conduct random breath tests, so we don’t need to suspect that you’ve committed another traffic offence before asking you to take one. I can see you’re currently on a provisional licence. Have you consumed any alcohol tonight?

   All right. I need you to take the breath test now. Please take a deep breath, place your mouth around the mouthpiece and blow continuously until I tell you to stop.

   That’s not the case for provisional drivers. Your prescribed alcohol limit is zero. That means even a small amount of alcohol can put you over your permitted limit. Saying that you only had half a glass doesn’t change the fact that you’ve committed a drink-driving offence.
